Car air conditioning service & repair
Car air-con not blowing cold? We diagnose A/C faults, find leaks, regas and repair systems at our Cannonvale workshop, with the electrical side covered in-house.
Quick answer
Elite Fleet Auto services and repairs car air conditioning at 8 Galbraith Park Drive, Cannonvale. We diagnose cooling faults, detect leaks, regas systems and repair or replace A/C components, and because we are auto electricians too, we can check the fans, relays and wiring that keep the system running. A/C work is quoted per vehicle: call 07 4948 3204.
Symptoms
Signs your car A/C needs looking at
- Air that starts cold and turns warm after a few minutes
- Weak airflow even on the highest fan speed
- A musty or damp smell from the vents
- Clicking, squealing or rattling when the A/C is switched on
- Water on the passenger floor
- The A/C works on the highway but not at the lights, or the other way round
In Whitsundays heat and humidity, an A/C fault is more than a comfort problem. A fogged windscreen that will not clear is a safety issue, and a struggling system works the engine harder.
Why a regas alone is not always the fix
Car air conditioning is a sealed system. If the refrigerant is low, it has gone somewhere. Topping it up without finding the leak often means paying for the same job again a few weeks later. That is why we start with diagnosis and leak detection, then talk you through the repair options before we regas.
Not every A/C fault is refrigerant. Condenser fans, the compressor clutch, pressure switches, relays, fuses and wiring all have to work for cold air. Those electrical faults are everyday work for our auto electrical side, so one workshop can follow the fault wherever it leads.
Look after it between services
- Run the A/C for a few minutes every week or two, even in the cooler months, to keep seals lubricated
- Keep the condenser at the front of the car clear of bugs, leaves and mud
- Replace a blocked cabin filter if your car has one: it cuts airflow and holds smells
- Get it checked early: a small leak is cheaper to fix than a failed compressor
When you book A/C work, tell us what the system is doing and when: cold at first then warm, only on hot afternoons, only at idle. Those details shorten the diagnosis. We check the system, find the cause, explain the repair options and the price, and only go ahead once you are happy. If the fault turns out to be electrical, such as a fan relay or a pressure switch, the same workshop fixes it.
A/C checks fit easily alongside a logbook or general service. If the car also has warning lights or electrical gremlins, mention it so we can look at everything in one visit.

Frequently asked questions
Why is my car air conditioning blowing warm air?
Common causes are low refrigerant from a leak, a faulty compressor or compressor clutch, a fan that is not running, or an electrical fault such as a relay or pressure switch. We diagnose it before recommending a repair.
Do you regas car air conditioners?
Yes. We regas, detect leaks, and repair or replace A/C components at our Cannonvale workshop.
How much does an A/C regas cost?
It depends on the vehicle and what the system needs, so we quote per vehicle. Call 07 4948 3204 with the make and model.
My A/C smells musty. What causes that?
Usually moisture and build-up in the system or a dirty cabin filter. Mention it when you book and we will check it.
Can you fix the electrical side of the A/C as well?
Yes. We are auto electricians as well as mechanics, so fans, relays, switches and wiring are checked in the same workshop.
